Willem Greve has announced the passing of his former partner, Carambole. The well-known stallion and Grand Prix winner passed away yesterday at the age of 21. The stallion, who had enjoyed many years of success under Greve’s saddle, suffered a severe leg fracture while in the field. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved.
“The team at De Watermolen did everything they could,” said Willem Greve. “But unfortunately, it was not enough. The goal was to let him enjoy his retirement for many more years. But the vets were clear: this was no longer sustainable. So we had to put him to sleep.”
