Dirk Demeersman: "With the Belgian team... oooh, we had a lot of fun! But could be serious as well..."

They often say, 'things were better back in the day.' It's time for some top riders to dig up some old memories. Living legends; Ludo Philippaerts, Stanny van Paesschen, Dirk Demeersman, and Jean-Paul Musette speak candidly. "I still remember one evening during the CSIO5* Dublin. There was the Nations Cup and we had a nice evening at the bar...

"... Jean-Paul was the chef d'équipe then and he went to his room. It wasn't our best Nations Cup. That evening I was sitting in the bar with Ludo afterwards," says Dirk Demeersman. "Ludo had a Spanish girlfriend and we thought, let's call her room and tell her there's a fire. Leave everything behind and come downstairs. You have to know that we had a view of the elevator and there was also a gala ball going on in the hotel at that time."

"So said, so done... he came downstairs, in a bright yellow jacket, pipe in hand... and those people from the gala..." it was just hilarious!"
