Last week, Ingrid Klimke fell during the 2023 German Eventing Championships. The rider fell after her mare, Siena lost her balance and Klimke could not stay in the saddle. This fall caused her to break her collarbone and she had to go under the knife.
After a successful surgery, the rider is of course immediately back in her stable, still aiming for her participation at the CHIO Aachen with Franziskus, as we read on her social media.
The message from the Olympic champion read, "Thank you so much for your kind messages. It does me good and gives me a great boost! The surgery went well and of course my first step is to go to the stable to see my horses!"
"Thursday I will sit on Franz (Franziskus) and see how that feels. After that we'll see. Lots of sleep and a program to recover quickly are now my first priority." If it turns out that Klimke is not fit enough to compete at CHIO Aachen, it will already be the second German cancellation, after Dorothee Schneider also had to cancel with First Romance.
