Kim Emmen is seeing one of her top horses leave the stable. Island V G (Zirocco Blue VDL) made his debut with his new rider, Geir Gulliksen, on Friday. Together with the KWPN gelding bred by J. Van Gestel, Gulliksen competed in the 1.45m event in Riesenbeck.
Although Eric Berkhof sold the gelding to Gulliksen earlier this year, Kim Emmen continued to compete with him internationally until the beginning of this month. Their last international appearance was during the Longines Global Champions Tour 'kick-off' in Doha.
Together with the son of VDL Zirocco Blue, Emmen achieved numerous international successes. The duo shined during the Global Champions League in Monte Carlo and secured a spot on the 1.50m podium in Valkenswaard. Additionally, they claimed victory in the CSI4* 1.45m event in Vejer de la Frontera in 2022. From now on, the gelding will represent the Norwegian flag.
