German show jumper Rene Dittmer was seen competing last week with an unexpected horse under the saddle. The 12-year-old Emerson, the Olympic trump card of Canadian rider Mario Deslauriers, was Dittmer's new partner at the US Greenwich competition.

The son of Eldorado vd Zeshoek competed at the Olympics just this summer with his Canadian rider, where the pair finished 18th in the individual final. Born to Koen Cerpentier, 'Mikado van d'Abelendreef' has been part of Deslauriers' team since mid-2021, taking over the reins from Filip De Wandel. The pair has already been allowed to take their place on the podium together thirteen times.

Dittmer immediately threw all stops open and entered the five-star competition in Greenwich. After finishing the 1m50 high course with 6 penalties, a day later they jumped just outside the podium in the 1m45 class!
