West Palms Events is pleased to announce the addition of the USHJA Pony Hunter Derby at our events this season! We are excited to offer more divisions and options for our pony riders and hope that everyone will join us this year for both the USHJA Pony Hunter Derbies and the Green Pony Hunter USEF Rated Divisions.
The USHJA Pony Hunter Derby will be offered on our schedules at a variety of shows this year, including our brand new Winter Circuit in Santa Barbara and Paso Robles!
"We are looking forward to competing in the USHJA Pony Hunter Derby Series that West Palms Events are including this year," said Michael Savage of Poppy Creek, who trains an array of students with ponies. "It's exciting to build on new skills. The two round format allows for handiness, pace, clever approaches and brilliance to be practiced. Plus, pony girls love wearing their shadbellys!
We are offering our new Green Pony Hunter USEF Rated Division at the Santa Barbara Surfside Classic, the Santa Barbara Sunshine Classic, the Central California Welcome Classic, the Central California Zinfandel Classic, the Huntington Beach Surf Classic and the Huntington Beach Summer Classic.
"We are so excited that West Palms is offering Pony Hunter Derbies," said Jill Hamilton of Millennium Farm. "Our pony kids have been watching the pros and juniors do these derbies and are so excited that they get to participate in them too! We're also thrilled that West Palms is offering the Green Pony Hunters. It makes such a difference for kids in California who are trying to get qualified for pony finals in Kentucky!"
We would like to remind everyone that all Hunters, including pony classes, will be held on the grass for the entire Central California Horse Show Series at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club and the Paso Robles Horse Park.
