The dispute between showjumper Ben Maher and his long-term backers Mike and Emma Phillips is still ongoing. A spokesman for the Phillipses told that “the case has not been resolved and is expected to go to trial next year”. Ben Maher’s lawyer declined to comment. Last year, the Phillipses claimed Ben made “secret profits” of £700,000 from horse sales and purchases during their 8-year relationship (news, 5 December). But in Ben’s defence and counter-claim papers — filed with the High Court — he said he is owed money through sales commission and “equine services” (news, 12 December 2013). © HH
