Janne Friederike Meyer has decided to retire her success horse Cellagon Lambrasco from the sport. The 16 year old gelding sustained a tendon injury last year during a hard landing at the very end of the Grand Prix course in Dublin. Meyer has now decided that she does not want to expose Lambrasco to the risk of re-injury. During their career together Cellagon Lambrasco and Meyer achieved great things; in 2011 they won the Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen – the most prestigious Grand Prix class in the world – and the same year they were on the second placed German Nations Cup team in Aachen and on the winning team at Hickstead. In 2012 the pair was again on the second placed Nations Cup team in Aachen, before they went on to compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Cellagon Lambrasco has several Grand Prix wins with Meyer, in addition to other top results. Cellagon Lambrasco’s official retirement ceremony will take place at his favorite event Hamburg Derby in May. © Janne F. Meyer
