While many top combinations battle it out on the 'holy' showjumping grass in Aachen this week in Knokke the three week top level competition is also on its way. Yesterday was filled with top young horse classes and today the second week of Knokke Hippique kicked off for good with all classes running over three arena's. Twice it were the Irish today that took a win in Belgian Knokke were home riders manage to secure three victories. In the CSI3* Two Phase Special it was Thomas Ryan who surprized the field with an unbeatable time under 30 seconds. In the saddle of Cruise On Clover the Irish rider crossed the finish in 29.79 seconds bettering Titouan Schumacher and Oceane de Nantuel by nearly three seconds. With Dutch Suus Kuyten and Dakota du Buisson Z finshed just behind the French rider in a clear round of 33.66 seconds. The other CSI3* speed class on time it were the Belgian colors that were on the number one spot with Wouter de Vos beating Darragh Kenny by just 0.03 seconds. De Vos and Emporio Van T Holeinde crossed the finish line in 65.68 and Kenny needing 65.71 seconds with his Global Van T Braunerthof. However Darragh Kenny did manage to ride his Diamant de Semilly gelding Picolo to the top spot in the CSI2* Flamant Price. There the Irish rider was faster then USA's Clementine Goutal and Michael Hughes after a fabulous ride trough the second phase of the two phase special course in 25.52 seconds. During the CSI2* Two Phase Special over 1.30m is was yet another Belgian rider taking home the win with Julie De Pelsmaeker steering her Artico 2 over the finish ahead of German Marc Bettinger who followed closely with C'Est Sue B in 31.79 seconds. Both CSI1* classes were a crown pleaser for the home crowds with a Belgian win in for Maite Delree (Ultra Top des Vergers) speed class over 1.20m and Melissa Laenen (In Time) and Laurence Portolani (Valentino-D) coming first and second in the 1.10m sponsored by Clipmyhorse.
