Jacqueline Mars, one of eventing's most prolific owners and supporters, has contributed to raising $100'000 to develop the Virginia Horse Centre into a world class competition facility.
As the Virginia Horse Center Foundation (VHCF) continues to pursue its mission to provide a world-class facility hosting regional, national and international equestrian events, the support of generous donors is vital to its success.
This summer, thanks to Virginia's Jacqueline Mars, the VHC Foundation was able to raise $100,000 to fully fund the VHC Master Plan through the "Jacqueline Mars Championship Challenge." Ms. Mars offered to match any gifts of $1,000 or more up to $50,000. This important challenge was very well received during its silent phase, with three donors offering gifts that totaled $50,000 to match the $100,000 overall goal.
The VHC Master Plan is slated to be completed by the end of this year. This engineered plan will be the foundation of all major renovations to the 600-acre facility. The Virginia Horse Center continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community, improve the customer experience, renovate its facilities and achieve financial sustainability.
Capital improvements will be accomplished strategically through the Master Plan, which identifies problems and opportunities related to the present state of the physical site at the Horse Center, including long-range planning for a more environmentally sensitive operation. This study will be coordinated with future growth needs and serve as the foundation for all future improvements as well as help the Horse Center prioritize much-needed improvement projects. Strategic expansion and renovation will improve the quality of existing spaces and will focus on proposed changes to help us continue to be a world-class equestrian venue.
The Virginia Horse Center Foundation would like to express its gratitude to Jacqueline Mars and to our dedicated donors who participated in the Jacqueline Mars Championship Challenge Match. This campaign has raised all the needed funds for the creation of the Master Plan.
