Jeroen Appelen takes thriller of Grand Prix Lier in front of home crowd

In Lier, the Grand Prix of the CSI2* competition was jumped just now as the closing act of the weekend; the riders were presented with a very tough basic course: only two combinations were able to keep the zero. Both combinations were also Belgians, so a Belgian victory was assured from the start.

That winner was Jeroen Appelen. He rode Lunatique van de Kwakenbeek (by Quidam de Revel) clear through the jump-off in 39.64 seconds. Tristan Guisson and Naturelle vh Legitahof (by Nabab de Reve) took home second place.

Third place went to Leopold van Asten. He left all the rails in the first round but got one point for time behind his name with VDL Groep Elegant Hero Z. The same happened to Bunoit Moeskops and Kiarado (by Diarado). They jumped a clear round but their time of 76.26 seconds still earned them fourth place. Michael Jung and Edo Sandra finished in fifth place with one time fault in the basic course behind their name.
