On the website of the Salinas Rodeo a short-movie was posted last week were people could behold inter alia how a horse breaks its leg and is, despite of the fracture, forced to get up again. The shocking images brought a big part of the horse-caring world together, starting a petition agains the Salinas Rodeo and its sponsors. But not only the people who started the petition on the Care2 website have by now revealed their disgust towards the organization also Dutch sponsor, Rabobank has send out a press release disapproving the inhumane practices at Salinas Rodeo.
"We were very shocked while watching this gruesome video on YouTube. That is why we have started an investigation how we can react as one of the main sponsors of this event," states the Dutch bank. "Rabobank has a strict policy on animal welfare with a referral to the 'Five Freedoms of animals'. Not only in the Netherlands but worldwide our bank respects this policy."
