In the final week of elite competition at the 2017 Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, leading equine supplement company Vita Flex presented the last Vita Flex Victory Pass Award of the winter show series to Grand Prix dressage rider and Pan American Games Silver Medalist Tina Irwin and her mount Laurencio. The award is presented to horse and rider teams who reflect Vita Flex’s commitment to excellence by performing winning rides. Irwin and Laurencio placed first in the FEI Prix St. Georges 2017 CDIO3* with an impressive 74.026 percent to not only earn the Vita Flex Victory Pass Award but also help their home country of Canada win the Stillpoint Farm FEI Nations Cup™ CDIO 3*. Vita Flex awarded the triumphant pair with a commemorative red and white Vita Flex Victory Pass Award neck ribbon, baseball cap, and a bucket full of Vita Flex® performance products. Vita Flex has been recognizing winning rides at all levels at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival this year by presenting the Victory Pass Award throughout the prestigious winter show series. Irwin was thrilled with her 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding Laurencio, who she calls “Teddy.” “My proudest moment I think is just the consistency I felt with him today,” she said. “He just flowed from one movement to the next. Tina Irwin and her husband, Jaimey Irwin, have owned Laurencio since he was four years old and have trained him up through the levels. The couple runs Stoney Lake Equestrian in Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, where they train horses and operate a program for juniors, young riders, and amateurs. They are excited to see Laurencio’s progress in competition throughout the years. “Last season, he won nine classes consecutively at CDI and three more nationally, so in total he won 12 in a row,” Tina Irwin said. “We started back this season with our first show at the end of February, and we were a little rusty the first day, but we ended up winning the freestyle.” It’s Laurencio’s attitude that Irwin says contributes to his success in the show ring. “He’s sensitive, hot, yet extremely sensible. He handles atmospheres very well. I think you could probably put one of my children on him, who are five and three years old.” Irwin’s plans for the future include a month break at home in Canada before the Canadian show season begins, and then Dressage at Devon later in the year. Irwin hopes to move Laurencio up to Intermediate II and then Grand Prix level during that time. With the help of her new Vita Flex® products, including Equinyl™ Combo, Acculytes™Electrolytes, Master’s Hoof Blend™ product, and Vita-Hoof® Conditioner, Irwin can keep Teddy in the peak physical shape needed to excel at this advanced level of dressage competition. As a returning sponsor of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, Vita Flex enjoys recognizing those horse and rider combinations that have turned “good” into “great” in the sport of dressage. Irwin and other award recipients received several popular items from Vita Flex’s expansive line of equine performance supplements, all backed by research from veterinarians and equine nutritionists. For over two decades, Vita Flex has provided riders, trainers, and owners with top-quality antioxidants, electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, and topical solutions that help keep horses in peak condition.
