Jean-Louis Andrien died on Wednesday just after he had celebrated his 77th birthday. He was a well-known breeder whose fame had spread far beyond the borders of the province of Liège.
Many internationally performed horses were born in Mortroux near Blégny, along the Ri d'Asse. These include the stallion Rubens du Ri d'Asse (Argentinus) – who covered mares for many years at Haras de Muze before moving on to compete at the highest level under Swiss colors – as well as the stallions Volcan du Ri d'Asse (Voltaire) and Figaro du Ri d'Asse (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve).
