CSI5* Den Bosch: no keeping Smolders from victory in 1m40 jump-off class

In Den Bosch, the CSI5* riders just came into action for the first time today. They were presented with a 1m40 class with jump-off and Harrie Smolders secured a Dutch victory. He drew the longest straw in a jump-off with no fewer than 13 combinations. Smolders rode Escape Z (by Emerald) clear through the jump-off in 30.92 seconds, a time no other combination could match.

Jérôme Guery came closest. He saddled Juristo van het Hagenhof (by Elvis Ter Putte) to ride clear to the finish in 32.68 seconds. Eric van der Vleuten completed the top three. His 10-year-old mare Icarrone S (by Carrera VDL) did not come close to the wood and clocked off in 33.06 seconds.

Willem Greve, the winner of yesterday's main class, had to make do with fourth place. His Candy Luck Z (by Comme Il Faut) jumped clear in 33.79 seconds. Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Comthago VDL (by Comme Il Faut) completed the top five.
