In Riesenbeck this weekend, in addition to the European Championships there is also a CSI3* competition on the programme and that competition just had its denouement with the CSI3* Grand Prix. No less than 17 combinations managed to keep the zero in the basic course. A jump-off with 17 had to decide the winner. David Will, a German who has been in excellent form all weekend, gave the home crowd what they had come for: a German victory. Riding Quentucky Jolly (by Nirvana V), he was the fastest with a time of 39.86 seconds. No other combination even came close to his time.
Lillie Keenan and Skyhorse (by Calvaro FC) followed in second place. They also managed to jump a clear round, clocking in at 42.14 seconds. Nicola Philippaerts, who yesterday was also part of the Belgian team that won bronze in the Nations Cup, was again on the third step of the podium. He rode Gijs (by Kashmir van Schuttershof) clear and finished in 42.98 seconds.
Wilm Vermeir (IQ van het Steentje) and Holger Wulschner (Diamant de Plaisir) finished in fourth and fifth place.
