In the French La Baule the 5*-riders have started. The first class of the day was a 1m40 class against the clock. 26 combinations managed to stay clear and in the end Filippo Marco Bologni was the fastest. The next class was a 1m45 class, also against the clock. Here we had 21 clear combinations and the victory remained in France thanks to Mathieu Billot.
CSIO 5* 1m45 - against the clock
"The last shall be the first" is what Mathieu Billot must have thought when entering the ring. With H (v. C Indoctro) he was the last one to go and he immediately caught up with everyone else. He was fast and clear, finishing in 63,37 seconds, just enough to win the class. But Grégory Wathelet came really close. He was in the first part of the class and with Ace of Hearts (v. Aliandro b) he immediately put pressure on the other competitors. With a time of 63,77 seconds it looked like it was enough to win, but in the end they got second place. The third place was for Nicolas Delmotte and Citadin du Chatellier (v. L'Arc de Triomphe).
Ives Vanderhasselt and Lelielounka STW (v. Emerald van't Ruytershof) jumped to the fourth place. Daniel Bluman completed the top five with Cachemire de Braize (v. Nissan Quality Touch Z).
CSIO 5* 1m40 - against the clock
Filippo Marco Bologni was able to win the first class of the day with Quidich de la Chavee (v. President) in 56,61 seconds. The rest of the top three was concluded by France. We saw Laurent Goffinet in second place with Absolut de Lacke (v. Diamant de Semilly), Megane Moissonnier and Daisy Top Gery (v. Top Ten du Gery) took third place.
Nicolas Delmotte and Denerys du Montceau (v. L'Arc de Triomphe) claimed fourth place, his fellow countryman Philippe Leoni ended in fifth place with James Bond du Bec (v. Diamant de Semilly).
