Gregory Wathelet: "In a jump-off with twenty you only have one option: go fast"

Gregory Wathelet jumped to the victory yesterday in the closing CSI3 * Grand Prix of Vilamoura. He counted on MJT Nevados (by Calvados Z) to ride to the first place in a jump-off with no less than twenty combinations. "In such a jump-off you know that you only have one choice: go fast", Wathelet said afterwards.

"With this field and then also a jump-off with twenty, you know that it will be a very hard fight", he continues. "I had seen Richard (Vogel) 's round and I have to say he was exceptionally fast. However, I knew my horse could go even faster and so I decided to do everything I could to take the victory, with the known result ".

Wathelet closed seven weeks in Vilamoura with a victory in the Grand Prix: "I mainly took younger horses to Vilamoura to give them more experience. We also took some older horses. The goal was actually to get them in competition rhythm for December and January, but I think we all know by now that there will not be much jumping in December and January. So I am happy that I was able to conclude here in Vilamoura with a Grand Prix victory ", Wathelet concludes.
