Maikel van der Vleuten opens Barcelona with gold

The opening class in Barcelona has been won by Maikel van der Vleuten. The Dutchman flew to victory in the battle for the RCPB Trophy. Patriot Jur Vrieling also knows a good start with a fourth place. What will they do in the Nations Cup later this day?...

Van der Vleuten jumped to victory on the back of Kamara van 't Heike (v. Epleaser van T Heike). The Dutchman rode a clear second phase in a time of 26,22. Rebecca McGoldrick her time with Horatio van Erpekom (v. Kannan) was fast enough for a second place with the chrono being stopped at 26,97. Chaser and patriot Beth Underhill rode Mademoiselle-A (v. Corland) to a clear round in 27,50 seconds and became third.

Jur Vrieling took the fourth place in the saddle of Fernando-H (v. Calvino Z), Mario Stevens followed on five with Carrie 22 (v. Christian 25) for Germany.
