Olympic horse Eurocommerce Monaco passed away

Eurocommerce Monaco (v. Locato) has passed away at the age of 29. Evelien Schröder reports this on Facebook. Monaco jumped two Olympic Games under Gerco Schröder, those of Athens and Hong Kong. Monaco spent his retirement with the Schröder family.

In 1999 Monaco came to Eurocommerce's stable. The then 8-year-old gelding was initially ridden by Wim Schröder. This combination would last until 2001 and became seventh during the Dutch Championship in 2000. After that, Gerco Schröder took over the reins and this immediately resulted in his big breakthrough. They won for example the Lucerne Nations Cup with the Dutch team in 2003. Schröder also finished fourth with the Dutch team at the Olympic Games in Athens. In 2004 they became Dutch champions with the Seniors.
