Pedro Veniss, one of the best Brazilian riders in the world, had a conversation with Stud For Life. He told about how he keeps busy in times of Corona and that how much he misses competition.
The Brazilian lives in Barcelona and mainly focuses on dressage now: "In the beginning we did not know when the competition would resume, so we kept the horses working. Now it appears that everything will take longer than expected, we cut back in the trainings and we don't train so intense anymore. I now focus mainly on dressage exercises but I can really enjoy that. My top horse Quabri is currently have a break and will focus mainly on breeding this season, because of the Corona crisis. I hope I can start him next year during the Olympics, although I may also ride Lord Pezi Junior (by Lord Pezi). He joined my stables not too long ago and the 2020 Olympics came too early for him but next year he might be ready, "said the Brazilian.
He continues: "At the moment, I really miss the competitions. We professional riders love the adrenalin. I don't think I have ever been out of competition for more than four weeks. Still, we have to be positive about this situation: I now have more time to spend with my kids although it is not easy to live with kids in the center of Barcelona in a little appartement. I think won't like it when competitions will start again. They got used to their dad being home every day and then all of a sudden I'll be gone every weekend again ... "
