Verdi son Ittolo wins 3* Vancouver opening class

Kyle King won yesterday with Ittolo (Verdi TN) the 3* 1,40m class in Vancouver by force majeure. The American was 2.5 seconds ahead of James Chawke and the Dutch warmblood horse Gamble (Campbell VDL). Conor Swail took third and fourth place with Nadal Hero & DB (Kannan) and Count Me In (Count Grannus).

Last on the starting list, Kyle King was able to see what his competitors had done and where he could still make a profit with the Verdi son Ittolo. The American took full advantage of it and finished in the winning time of 56.09 seconds. The two Irishmen James Chawke and Conor Swail had already set fast times just before him. Chawke sent the Campbell son Gamble around in 58.55 seconds, good for second place. Shortly after, Swail drove the experienced Count Me In to 58.95 seconds and finished third. Swail had already set a clear round in 58.71 seconds with Nadal Hero & DB at the start of the class, which resulted in a fourth place.

β€œI got [Ittolo] two winters ago,” King tells. β€œLast year I rode him in the same class, and he got a ribbon. We moved up very quickly, perhaps too quickly. He's very brave, but the ride-ability wasn't really there."
