Interview: Simon Delestre ... Everybody wants to ride in Kapellen
For the show jumping community it is a beautiful weekend. There is the Longines Global Championships in Estoril, the 5-star event in Falsterbo and the international competitions in Vichy and Kapellen. Tomorrow this latest one starts its 27th edition. For the second year in a row we are asked as a media -partner and that gives us the chance to ask France's toprider, Simon Delestre, some questions about this event.

Hi Simon, thank you for this interview. Why do you choose the CSI in Kapellen, while there is also the LGCT in Estoril?
I choose to have an easy week. The last weeks I competed in a lot CSI5*-events, such as the ones in Knokke and Paris. Therefore this CSI3*-event is the perfect opportunity for me to train on a relaxed way.

This is not your first time in Kapellen. In the past you already noted several victories. What makes this competition so special for you?
It is true, this is not the first time I'll be competing in Kapellen. I believe this is one of the better competitions. Every rider wants to start here (Kapellen)...

What are you expectations?
I will start Toscanne D’Aiguilly, Chesall and Stardust Quinhon. Stardust Quinhon is in fact my 'second' horse for the CSI5*-level. The last months she got some impresive results. Earlier this year we even won the CSI3* in Doha. But I do expect more from my other two horses this week. I hope Toscanne and Chesall will be classified a few times this week.

Belgium seems to be your holy ground? You won the Worldcup in Mechelen and the LGCT Antwerp GP ...
(Smiles)I think it has nothing to do with the country (sorry), but with the timing. My horses seem to get regular and steady results in Belgium. Of course I'm very happy about that. I can only be happy, also with the results we had in Lummen and Knokke, both in Belgium.

Soon there are the European Championships in Aachen... Which horse do you want to start?
Lucky I am already qualified for Aachen. This with Qlassic Bois Margot. Probably that will also be my 'partner in crime' for this Championship. He didn't compete in many championships yet, but I am convinced he will shine in Aachen.
