Kyle King and Etalon on top in Monterrey

Kyle King (USA) is making his mark on Monterrey, Mexico, with two wins in as many weeks during Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) at Club Hípico La Silla. He and Etalon claimed the Vector Empresas CSI5* 1.50m for the second consecutive week in a row.

A former 3' hunter turned grand prix mount, Etalon is a 13-year-old KWPN gelding (Otangelo x Concorde) owned by Christine Maclean and Brent Therrien, that has solidly decided he belongs in the big ring. King and Etalon were the fastest of five double-clear rounds over courses built by Gregory Bodo (FRA) in a 13-horse jump-off.

Mexico dominated the rest of the podium for the home nation with Eugenio Garza taking the runner-up honor riding Contago (Cornet Obolensky x Cassini II). Carlos Hank rounded out the top three aboard H5 Turbo Z (Thunder Vd Zuuthoeve x Renville).

"I thought for the first round, it was substantially harder than last week. I always underestimate this horse, but he is just fantastic. I think I took off the favorites of the horse show [in the jump-off] because I didn't get many claps when I went through the timers. I wasn't sure what happened; I looked up and it was pretty silent. I'm super happy and I'm just so honored and lucky to have this guy as my partner," Kyle King said after his win.
