Saudi-Arabia again claims team gold at Asian Games

For the second year in a row, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took team gold at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. On stage Qatar followed in a silver position while the United Arab Emirates claimed bronze.

After two rounds and a jump-off featuring fences set at 1.40m, the Saudi equestrian team, composed of Abdulrahman Alrajhi riding Ventago (Van Helsing x Hunter's Scendix), Meshari Alharbi aboard Cascadello Boy RM (Cascadello x Balou du Rouet), Ramzy Al Duhami partnered with Untouchable 32 (Van Helsing x Lady's King), and Abdullah Alsharbatly on Skorphults Baloutendro (Contendros 2 x Balou du Rouet), clinched the gold medal with a perfect score of zero penalties. They outperformed the Qatari team, which included Bassem Mohammed on Incredible W (Action-Breaker x Bollvorm’s Libero H), Rashid Al Marri riding Concordess NRW (Congress 4 x Acobat 3), Khalifa Al Thani with Ierland VDL (Zapatero VDL x Indorado), and Faleh Al Ajami aboard Ghana (Vigo d'Arsouilles Stx x Cash), securing the silver medal with a total of four penalties.

"We came here with one mission: to claim the gold, and we accomplished it," declared Saudi team rider Alrajhi in a statement released by the FEI.

The bronze medal was awarded to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) team, which consisted of Abdullah Al Marri and James vd Oude Heihoef (Douglas x Action-Breaker), Omar Aljneibi with Dalida vd Zuuthoeve (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Sir Lui), Salem Al Suwaidi partnered with Diamond Way (Diamant de Revel x A'Khan Z), and Mohammed Al Hajri on G's Fabian (Gaillard de La Pomme x Lovis Corinth), accumulating a total of twelve penalties
