Shane Breen and Scarteen best in CSIO5* 1.45m Derby of La Baule

In La Baule, the 5* competition was treated to a real Derby. With fences and obstacles at 1.45m height, it was Shane Breen who emerged as the overall winner.

Eleven of them came to the start of this Derby trial. Shane Breen came in fourth in the saddle of Scarteen (by Cardento). The duo was the second combination to go clear, after France's Julien Gonin also finished clear. The Frenchman had saddled Caprice de Guinfard (by Mylord Carthago) and provisionally came in at two after Breen was a second and a half faster. In the end, only these two could finish the course clear, on which Breen took the victory and Gonin was second.

Swiss rider Romain Duguet came closest to Breen's time with Bel Canto de Boguin (by Grenat De Grez HN) but came in at three with four penalty points. For the home country, Nicolas Delmotte jumped to fourth place with eight penalties for Denerys du Montceau (by L'arc de Triomphe, followed by Victor Bettendorf who had twelve behind his name with Edipson du Chene (by Kannan).
