The bay colt has known nothing other than victory in his career, winning all four of his meets. As a result of his brilliant performance at Ascot, finishing ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s Gustav Klimt among others, he is now considered the leading contender in the Glorious Goodwood betting with William Hill to take another major crown in the campaign.
Without Parole made his debut at the Novice Stakes at Newcastle at the end of 2017. With Robert Havlin in the saddle, the three-year-old was considered the favourite for the event. He duly delivered with a dominant performance to live up to his reputation. Havlin made his move down the final furlong, allowing his charge to storm to victory to triumph by six lengths ahead of his nearest rival Trevithick.
Frankie Dettori took to the saddle for the bay colt’s next outing at the start of the current term. Gosden put his charge forward for the Centre of Norwich Novice Stakes in Yarmouth in another eight-furlong meet. Without Parole had to be pushed down the stretch to take the lead in the meet and he closed out the contest to secure the victory by another comfortable margin.

The level of difficulty was increased in his next race at Sandown Park in the Free Heron Stakes. Without Parole competed in his first Class One meet, facing elite competition for the first time. Despite the task at hand, Gosden’s charge was still considered the favourite for the event, with long odds on the rest of the field. For the first time of his career, the three-year-old was pushed down the stretch after taking pole position two furlongs out. Dettori was able to squeeze the extra yard of pace out of the bay colt to edge out Gabr by three-and-quarter lengths.
His victory at Sandown Park sent him into Royal Ascot with momentum, where Dettori again took to the saddle for the St James’s Palace Stakes. For the fourth time in as many races in his fledgling career, Without Parole was favoured, despite the one furlong discrepancy between the Stakes and his other races. Gosden’s charge did not get off to a rapid start as he tracked the leaders, although he remained within striking distance. He made the surge once again two furlongs from the end of the race to lead before closing out down the straight to beat out Gustav Klimt for the title.
O’Brien will send a slew of horses to take on Without Parole at Goodwood; therefore, Gosden has to ensure that his charge is once again up for the challenge. He has been flawless in his career thus far and it would not be a surprise to see the three-year-old in the winners’ circle once again.
