Shared lead after first round team competition FEI Youth Equestrian Games in Aachen

Because of COVID-19, the Youth Olympics of 2022 needed to be postponed for another four years. Luckily, a replacement for these young riders was found with the FEI Youth Equestrian Games during the CHIO Aachen this week. Today, the first round of the team competition was held, where a team of five riders competes per continent (Africa, North & South America, Asia, Australia and Europe). After this first round, four teams share the the lead with a clean sheet.

At the start of the FEI Youth Equestrian Games are 30 talented riders from 30 different countries around the world. During the first round of the team competition today, the team of North America set the best record with five perfect rounds. Thanks to the application of drop scores (dropping the two worst results), team Asia, Europe, and Africa are currently sharing the lead with team North America.

The best round of today was ridden by Aya Hamcho on Campari 329 (Charilan), who competes for Syria. The Hungarian rider Gabriela Maradiaga came in second with DSP Goldquelle (Gepsom), followed by Iranian combination Mirilya Manavikherad and Cornelia Marie (Chacco-Blue).

Jad Guerraoui from Morocco placed fourth with Lady Angeles (Los Angeles), before Carlos Andrés Meany Morataya and Annelie (Action-Pezi) from Guatemala.

The determining second round will be held tomorrow at 11 A.M.
