Belgian showjumpers have a flying start at JIM 2016
The Belgian jumping riders are having a good start at Jumping Indoor Maastricht. In three out of the four jumping classes they took first prize, including in the main class of today, the VDL Groep Prix.

Niels Bruynseels  (foto) showed at the end that the course could be jumped faster than the time set by Remco Been. He rode a super fast round with Gancia de Muze in 33.94 seconds. Bruynseels, who won a silver teammedal as a die als Young Rider at the 2004 Europeans, also recently won the Grand Prix of Helsinki with the same horse.

Holland’s Remco Been had to settle for the runner-up spot with VDL Holland van de Bisschop. The rider from Wierden won the Grands Prix of Wierden, Asten, Tubberten and Hardelot this year. Third place went to Ruben Romp with Audi’s Teavanta II CZ.

Earlier that evening the 22-year-old Pieter Clemens from Genk, Belgium, won the Limburg Prix, a Top Score with Joker, with the eight-year-old Hannoverian mare Silberrose. The combination collected 1330 points in a time of 65.35 seconds. Talent is in Pieter ’s family. His uncle is the famous Belgian rider Ludo Philippaerts and his cousins Nicola and Oliver Philippaerts are now also competing on the highest level. Since November 2015 Clemens trains with Jos Lansink in Meeuwen, Belgium.

Two riders from the province of Limburg finished in second and third place. Michel Hendrix, nephew of Timothy, who won a class this afternoon, finished runner-up with Alaska (ZANG, Asca Z x Concorde) with 1300 points in 67.45 seconds. Third place went to the other daughter of Leon Thijssen, Sanne, who scored 1280 points in 64.37 seconds with Tittut (SWB, Tornesch x Irco Marco).
