German Showjumping Team falls back on Meredith Michaels Beerbaum

After the German eventing team, also the showjumpers will make some changes in the original team composition. Not Marcus Ehning but reservist Meredith Michaels Beerbaum will participate at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

This decision was made after Marcus Ehning's stallion Cornado NRW miss-stepped during the trainings session on Saturay on the olympic equestrian venue of Deodoro. "After consulting our team-vet Jan Hein Swagemakers we decided that it is to risky to let Cornado NRW compete", Chef d'Equipe Otto Becker says. Therefore back-up rider Meredith Michaels Beerbaum and her grey Fibonacci will step up and complete the quartet around Christian Ahlmann, Ludger Beerbaum and Daniel Deusser.

Earlier also France announced that Simon Delestre's Ryan des Hayettes suffered a micro fracture and would not be able to participate at the Olympic Games. In addition Penelope Leprevost's start was also uncertain for some time, as her mare Flora de Mariposa showed symptoms of a light colic. However, the start of the experienced coupled was confirmed just a couple of hours before the start of the first class..
