Pieter Devos secures another Belgian win at Jumping Mechelen
Belgian and European champion at the Junior Gilles Thomas nearly managed to stunt again at the Christmas Jumping in Mechelen. But it was Pieter Devos received the honors in front of his home crowd in Mechelen at the CSI5 * Decathlon price.

It was a crowded jump-off with 17 combinations finishing on zero penalties during the first round. Amongst them was Thomas with Indiana v.h Kapelhof (by Chatman)who won yesterdays CSI5*. They smoothly cleared the 1.45m high course in 32.07 seconds and hold the lead for a long time in this star studded field.

Only Devos and his Belgian bred Haloubet Hitchcock (v. Baloubet du Rouet) managed to go just that little bit faster in 31.88 seconds. Stopping Thomas from taking his second win at CSI5 * level. Swede Henrik Eckermann did not have much trouble keeping up with the two Belgian riders. But fell just a bit short aboard Lux Z his mare Yajamila. The pair crossed the finish line a split tenth of a second later in 32.18 seconds.

Harrie Smolders and Zinius (by Nabab de Reve) gave the test a Orange twist . Smolders has taking yet again another top spot with a fourth place. In fifth place we see Spaniard Pilar Lucrecia Cordon and the SBS stallion Armani Des Maraichers (by Schuttershof of Kashmir).
