At the CSI3* event in Ascona, Switzerland, it was Japan who colored the victory. Taizo Sugitani jumped a clear round with his 15 year old gelding Avenzio 3 (by Animo). The only other clear combination had need of an extra 7 seconds to finish. Janika Sprunger and the 8 year old Belgian Warmbred Geena (by Darco) followed in a second place. With one jumping fault it was South African, Oliver Lazarus (Pour Le Poussage) who completed the stage. Riding for the first time at an European CSI competition Canadian Jaclyn Duff and the 12 year old Belgian Warmbred Pater Noster (by Parco) made an impressive debute. The pair jumped to the 33rd place in this 1.55m Grand Prix. From the 44 starters only 13 placed for the jump off.
