Isabel De Rycker & Stijn Vandersteen: “We’re here to give young stallions real chances — and to support breeders in every way we can!”

These are challenging times for stallion owners. Stallion approvals have been generally positive — many young stallions are getting the green light — but breeding numbers vary greatly by country. In Belgium, they’re slightly increasing, in the Netherlands they’re holding steady, but in Germany, there’s been a sharp drop. “Belgium is truly a horse country,” says Stijn Vandersteen of Stud 111. “Still, giving young stallions enough opportunities remains difficult.”
Isabel De Rycker (Loheky Sables) adds: “Right now, our most important role is to support breeders as best we can — especially since life has gotten so much more expensive. The good news? Prices have stabilized. It’s not a crisis, but you do need to manage things wisely.”
