Julien Epaillard wins the Longines FEI World Cup in Madrid

French rider Julien Epaillard claims victory in the Madrid World Cup! With his ten-year-old gelding Billabong du Roumois (by Mylord Carthago) he rode a very fast round in the Jump-Off and recorded a time of 41.24 seconds. It turned out to be a very difficult task to record a clear round in this 1.60m World Cup. Out of the total of 40 riders on the starting list, only six managed to stay clear and qualify for the Jump-Off. Besides Epaillard, only two other riders managed to stay clear in the second phase.

David Will took the second place for his account. With the thirteen-yea-old C Vier (by Cardento 933) he rode over the finish line in 42.71 seconds. Irishman Denis Lynch and GC Chopin's Bushi (by Contendro II) rode to a third place on the stage with a time of 42.87 seconds.

Marcus Ehning and Stargold (by Stakkato Gold) rode the fastest Jump-Off out of all the other riders. Unfortunately the pair saw a pole fall to the ground and thus had to settle for fourth place. The Swede Douglas Lindelöw rode his gelding Casquo Blue (by Chacco-Blue) in a time of 43.34 seconds to a fifth place. They too, had to record four penalty points in the Jump-Off.

Max Küher and nine-year-old Eic Coriolis des Isles (by Zandor) managed to keep the zero in the first phase but not in the Jump-Off. The pair recorded a time of 45.25 seconds and ended up in sixth place.
