In Mechelen, the FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy Final was decided after two rounds over 1.35m. In the Table A final standings, penalties from both rounds were added together, with a strong second round proving crucial to gain and hold positions.
The overall victory went to Sophia Aurelia George with Berlioz d’Henann (Kantje’s Ronaldo). After picking up 9 penalties in the first round, the pair produced a faultless second round, stopping the clock at 67.17 seconds. Their total remained on 9, which proved enough to secure the win.
"I am super proud of my pony, he jumped great. I definitely did not expect to win here but I'm super happy I did! My dream would be to be able to ride in the Olympics, but maybe more realistic: the Europeans."
Selma Hundborg Dresler finished second with Lady Crown (Crown Z). They stood on 7 penalties after the first round, but added 4 more in the second round, finishing in 66.68 seconds for a final total of 11.
"My pony has a really nice character and worked with me today. I'm very happy! I think it's already a very big achievement to come in second place here."
Third place went to Victoire Chapalain with Fantho de l’Etape (Flipper de l’Etape). With 13 penalties from the first round and a clear second round in 66.59 seconds, they stayed on 13 overall to claim a podium spot.
"I'm very happy with my pony. It's awesome to ride here and I'm happy I could come here."
Robin Vermeir took fourth with Atomic du Bary (Frascator Mail). She recorded 13 penalties in the first round and added 8 in the second, finishing in 68.55 seconds for a total of 21.
"Never thought I would be able to finish so high up. Coming back from a 13th place to finish fourth is fantastic definitely with the roaring crowd here in the Nekkerhal! It's also great that every rider here gets a lot of support, not only the Belgians."
Lilli Mellström rounded out the top five with Sparkling Lackaghmore Joey. After 18 penalties in the first round, she added 4 more in the second in 65.94 seconds, bringing the final total to 22.
