This weekend the Belgium equestrian centre in Oud-Heverlee will collect riders from 15 different countries to battle in this years first Nations Cup for student riders. Next to the traditional countries such as Belgium, Great-Britain, France, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands the Belgian organization may welcome some new representatives. Poland, Finland and Turkey will battle for victory with also Zimbabwe to join the ranks... The Belgium team will be represented by 3 new riders. Caroline Buyens, Tine Van Oost and Sander Pauwels will ride for their home country under the guidance of team chef Axel Wuytack.
A Nations Cup for Studentriders is a four-day competition where in every country is represented by 3 riders. In a knock-out system the riders have to compete in as well dressage as showjumping. On the back of a lent horse (provided by the organizing country) each rider gets about 5 minutes warm-up time. Every participation on a Nations Cup provides the necessary points for a country. Only the top five and the winner of the Silver League of the previous year will gain their ticket for the Golden League World Finals at the end of this year.
