The British Laura Collett goes ahead in the Eventing at the Olympic Games in Versailles, France. The jury unanimously placed them at one, and the duo even broke an Olympic record!
Aboard London 52, Collett rode an impeccable dressage test in Versailles. The pair had only 17,60 penalties, which was a new Olympic low! The record for lowest penalties was up until than held by David O'Connor, who had 19.30 penalties with Custom Made. In 2013, Laura had a rotational fall which left her with a fracturerd shoulder, punctured lung, lacerated liver and broken ribs. She was in a coma for a short period of time and also lost sight in her right eye. But now she's back, stronger than ever!
Michael Jung (GER) travelled to Paris with Chipmunk FRH. The sixteen years old gelding was previously ridden by Jung's team mate Julia Krajewski, who is also present for the German team at this year's Olympics. Jung and Chipmunk approached closest to Collett's astonishing score, landing 17,80 penalties and thus second place. Alex Hua Tian, riding for People's Republic of China, shared his third place with Christopher Burton (AUS), who both had 22,00 penalties written down. Hua Tian had Jilsonne van Bareelhof under his saddle, Burton was aboard Shadow Man.
Fun fact: Burton actually planned on quitting eventing and focus on a career in jumping but the opportunity arose to ride Shadow Man.
Fifth place was taken by Switzerland's Felix Vogg and Dao de L'Ocean.

Great Britain goes ahead in the team competition with a total of 66,70 penalties. Laura Collett had the best result for Great Britain, followed by Rosalind Canter (Lordships Graffalo) with 23,40 penalties and Tom McEwen (JL Dublin) with 25,80 penalties.
Germany follows in second with a total of 74,10 penalties after this first task. Michael Jung secured the best result, being second individually. Julia Krajewski (Nickel 21), the former rider of his horse, scored 26,90 penalties and Christoph Wahler (Carjatan S) landed on 29,40.
In third is the team of the hosting nation, France with a total of 81,20 penalties. Stephane Landois (Chaman Dumontceau) had 24,40 penalties. Nicolas Touzaint (Diabolo Menthe) finished on 27,20 followed by Karim Florent Laghouag (Triton Fontaine) with 29,60 penalties.
