Dutch eventers for WEG announced

Martin Lips, the Dutch eventing coach, has announced his team for the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games in Caen, France. The eventing discipline will be organised from August 28th until 31st. The Orange-riders will be Elaine Pen, Tim Lips, Andrew Heffernan and Merel Blom.

Lips explains his selection as followed; "Both Tim and Merel have ridden very well in the four start competition in Badminton. Even before both riders were riding towards some top places. This is a proof they can compete on the highest level. Elaine surprised me at the fourstar competition in Luhmuhlen in June this year. She showed a lot of progress and ambition. With Andrew I choose for a reliable team rider. For Normandy we have choosen for his horse Boleybawn Ace. The horse-rider combination has already proven to be able to handle the top level eventing competitions."

This is the Dutch team:

  • Merel Blom (Breukelen) with Rumour has It
  • Andrew Heffernan (Cheshire Gbr.) with Boleybawn Ace (Millthyme Corolla, reserve horse)
  • Tim Lips (Breda) with Keyflow N.O.P.
  • Elaine Pen (Voorschoten) with Vira
