Sam Watson wins CIC3* Camphill Horse Trials

At the CIC3* event at Camphire Horse Trials in Waterford it was Ireland's Sam Watson who claimed the victory. The rider, who is based in Carlow, competed aboard the nine-year-old Horseware Lukeswell. Although it is not his champion's horse, he proved to be a worthy replacer. Horseware Lukeswell put up a stunning performance. The pair led after dressage with an impressive 42.3, followed with a clear in show jumping and then had the fastest cross country clear of the day to see off 41 other combinations. They finished comprehensive winners over Great Britain’s Flora Harris and Australia’s Lucinda Fredericks. The other Irish winner of the weekend was Ciaran Glynn who piloted the 7 year-old Gee Que gelding by Guidam to win the CIC two star. The CCI two star was won by Great Britain’s David Doel. The CCI one star class went to another British rider, Heidi Woodhead. The CIC one star was won by the USA’s Elizabeth Halliday-Sharp.
