More than 70 combinations entered the arena this afternoon for the 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier in Abu Dhabi. At the Al Shira'AA Tour, British rider Alexander McLean jumped to the eventual victory riding Calixte Heartbreaker Z (Cicero Z van Paemel).
Constant van Paesschen set a strong early pace with a time of 69.88 seconds. Ultimately, the Belgian had to settle for a spot just off the podium. Alexander McLean claimed the win with Calixte Heartbreaker Z, finishing approximately one second faster.
Henrik von Eckermann followed in the rankings aboard Qasirah van de Reistenhoek (Emerald), bred by Yasin Ramont. The Swede and the Belgian-bred mare finished just ahead of Christian Ahlmann and Vivario JL Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles).
Constant van Paesschen ultimately finished just outside the top three with the 13-year-old SF mare, Diaz du Thot (Ready Boy des Forets *Hn). Compatriot Abdel Said completed the top five; riding Quaker Brimbelles Z (Quicksilver St Simeon), Said finished clear in 70.54 seconds.
