Three-time Belgian Olympian Gregory Wathelet opened the third leg of Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) at CSI Greenwich on winning form with a victory in the $62,500 CSI5* 1.50m Cabana Coast qualifier riding Argentina de La Marchette (Acajou de La Marchette x Del Piero PB) on Friday afternoon.
Wathelet—a member of the Desert International Horse Park (DIHP) Roadrunners during the 2025 MLSJ season—made his League debut three years ago and has since joined the West Coast based squad after spending several winter seasons competing there.
“I’m excited to be part of the League again,” said the world no. 24. “I think it’s good for the sport and good for more people to come over here from Europe. I’m very impressed with this venue and the level has been very good."
“I’m happy with how Argentina de La Marchette jumped both rounds,” continued Wathelet of his own 13-year-old mare. “I’m very happy with her—I knew the jump-off was going to be quite fast but she’s a fast horse and she proved that.”
Wathelet stopped the clock at 36.02 seconds over Guilherme Jorge’s (BRA) track. The time stood at the top of a 20-horse jump-off. USA’s Marilyn Little rode to second aboard La Contessa (License x Cornet's Prinz) in 37.47 seconds.
Rounding out the podium placings, Rene Dittmer (GER) took third in the irons of Cody 139 (Casall x Quidam de Revel) in a time of 37.85 seconds for owner Cerrin Döhle.
Wathelet’s win gave the Roadrunners an additional eight points in the team standings and settled him in the top 15 individually. View current standings here.
