While Sunday is reserved for the finals of the World Championship for Young Horses, today it was time for the consolation classes. At 1.25m level, the 5-year-olds showed that a new generation is waiting behind the scenes, ready to break through.
Victory went to Tabitha Kyle with the black mare Ottani Z. The daughter of Otterongo Alpha Z, bred by Ruisbroekfarms BV and owned by Mark Kyle, jumped a flawless round and stopped the clock at 52.36 seconds.
Just behind followed Italy’s Guido Franchi with Bijou van’t Klavertje Vier Z (By Ceira D’ick). He also kept a clean sheet and finished in 56.03 seconds.
Third place went to Great Britain’s Nicole Pavitt with Umberto II van het Geninsteinde, a BWP gelding by Arezzo VDL. The pair produced a smooth clear in 58.39 seconds.
The British flag also flew in fourth place thanks to Pippa Goddard, who rode the Oldenburg stallion Convio PS, a son of Conthargos, faultlessly around in 60.16 seconds.
The top five was completed by Federico Jacobone with Costa Bravo PS Z (Continental Blue) from Stalounielle. They crossed the finish line in 60.86 seconds.
