During the prestigious CSI5* in Madrid, part of the Longines Global Champions Tour, Rokfeller de Pleville will bid a final farewell to the sport. Now twenty years old, the gelding is bringing an end to an impressive career that spanned over a decade at the highest level.
Since making his international debut in April 2013, Rokfeller de Pleville has left an indelible mark on the world of showjumping. Initially ridden by Charlotte Couperie Eiffel, the son of L’Arc de Triomphe quickly found his way to Spanish rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar — a partnership that would prove to be a game-changer.
From 2014 onwards, Rokfeller and Álvarez Aznar became a fixture at top-level events. World Equestrian Games in 2014 and 2018, European Championships in 2015, 2017, and 2019, the Rio Olympics in 2016, and World Cup Finals in both 2018 and 2019 — they were there, time and again. Remarkably, at the age of nineteen, Rokfeller returned to the Olympic arena in Paris in 2024, a testament to his extraordinary durability and fighting spirit.
While a major championship medal remained just out of reach, Rokfeller boasts an impressive list of victories. Highlights include winning the World Cup Grand Prix in Zurich (2017) and clinching the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Rabat (2023). In that Rabat performance, the pair were one of only four combinations to jump double clear — a feat that showcased their enduring class.
According to Ecuestre.es, the duo has earned a unique place in Spanish showjumping history: they are the only combination to have won Grands Prix across all three elite international circuits — CSIO, World Cup, and the Global Champions Tour. Rokfeller de Pleville isn’t just a top athlete; he’s a true legend of the sport.
