Ian Miller misses out on first Olympics since 1980
On Thursday, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Equestrian Canada (EC) named the the showjumpint team to represent Team Canada in equestrian at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from August 5 to 21.

Sadly 10 time Olympian Ian Miller will be missing this year in Rio with his horse Dixon (v. Vigo D'Arsouilles) being injured earlier this year and therefore will not be fit to compete in time for the Olympics. However the old veteran will pass the torch to none less then his own daughter Amy who will take the nine year old Heros van de Vogelzang (v. Canadian River) to represent the Canadian flag.

She will be accompanied byΒ  Yann Candele (First Choice 15, v. For Keeps)Β  Tiffany Foster ( Tripple X III, v. Namelus R) and the Olympic champion of the 2008 Beijing games Eric Lamaze, who will take his fantastic jumping Fine Lady 5 (v. Forsyth) with him to Brazil.

Tiffany Foster about her representing Canada in Rio: β€œIt is an honour to be chosen to represent Canada at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. These Olympics are so special to me because four years ago my dreams were shattered when my horse Anton had a major injury that took us out of the running for the London 2012 Games. Little did I know he would recover so well and earn a place on the Rio Olympic Team with personal best scores. I could not have accomplished this goal without my amazing family, team and coach. Thank you to Equestrian Canada for all the support and huge organizational challenges getting us all to Rio safely. I will wear the maple leaf proudly in Rio!”
