Beth Underhill moves to Ireland as the Canadian showjumper and former Olympian joins the Coolmore Showjumping stable.
Underhill has worked her way back into the sport, relying on the horses out of the stables of the Rein-family. Aboard of Nikka vd Bisschop (Emerald van't Ruytershof), Dieu Merci van T&L (Toulon), My Clementine (Obos Quality 004) and Dynastie de Beaufour (Diamant de Semilly), the Canadian put herself in the spotlight again after being successful in both the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games in the '90s. She joined the Torrey Pines Stables at the end of 2021 but now moves on to the Coolmore Showjumping Stable. At the beginning of this year, Underhill already made public that her partnership with the Rein-family, including Nikka vd Bisschop and Dieu Merci van T&L, came to an end.
"After more than two years of partnership, we mutually decided to end the collaboration,” the Canadian said back than. "It was truly an honor to represent the Canadian flag with the Rein family's talented horses."
Her most reliable steed was Nikka vd Bisschop, with whom she competed at the 2022 World Championship in Herning as a member of the Canadian team but was also part of the silver medal team at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
"My highlight was definitely the double clear round with T&L's Dieu Merci in the Nations Cup of CSIO5* La Baule and afterwards winning the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday! I also have wonderful experiences with Nikka."
Cian O'Connor looks forward to Underhill's arrival. "I'm delighted that Beth Underhill has joined us in Ireland", he wrote on his Instagram. "Beth will run the Coolmore Showjumping Stable in Co.Tipperary acting as head coach and developing horses and working with the riders based there. I'm thrilled tot have someone of Beth's experience and professionalism as part of our wider team."
