Kent Farrington's Austria 2 is going into athletic retirement. The 15-year-old Holstein mare may enjoy her well-deserved rest after a brilliant career. The American rider announces this via his social media.
The 15-year-old mare was undoubtedly one of Kent Farrington's top horses. Late last year, the pair won the five-star World Cup competition at Toronto. Their last international appearance was last December, with the bronze in Thermal's 5* 1.50m competition as a nice finish.
One of their most memorable wins was undoubtedly that of the 2019 Rolex Top Ten Final at Geneva. In addition, they won almost every possible class, from a regular 5* to speed classes.... The pair won it all.
The current world number eleven said himself: "Austria 2 returns to Take The High Road Farm to retire from international sport. Austria retires happy and sound winning everything from speed classes to 5* Grand Prix. Thank you to owners Karen and Glen for the opportunity and thank you to Austria for a fantastic run! Of her many wins, the Rolex top 10 final in Geneva is one I will never forget."
