At the start of the main event of the day in Saint Tropez, a 5* class over a height of 1.55m, 43 combinations were ready to give their all. They not only competed for Longines Ranking points, but also tried to get a spot in the Grand Prix on Sunday. In the end it was Marc Dilasser who took gold on the back of Arioto du Gevres (Diamant de Semilly).
Twelve riders jumped clear and qualified for the jump-off. The fastest of the pack was Marc Dilasser with Arioto du Gevres, who stopped the chrono clear at 36.06 seconds. German Christian Ahlmann followed a good second after Dilasser, and became second with the chestnut gelding Mandato van de Neerheide (Emerald). Bronze went to Penelope Leprevost, who completed a clear jump-off with the 11-year-old Texas (Tornesch 1042) in a time of 37.80 seconds.
Just outside the top three, Nicolas Demotte placed fourth in the saddle of Citadin du Chatellier (L'Arc de Triomphe). Dominique Hendrickx and the dark brown stallion Floris TN (Quality Time TN) also managed to stay clear, and with a time of 38.79 seconds they were good for fifth place.
