Irish showjumper Kevin Babington out of surgery

Irish showjumper Kevin Babington went through surgery following a fall in friday's Grand Prix qualifier at the Hampton Classic Horse Show. He sustained injury to his cervical spine and the surgery was aimed to stabalize the bones in his neck.

The GoFundMe page that was set up to help cover Babington's medical expenses stated that the surgery went well. The fundraiser campaign has collected over $40.000 and has been set up to help Babington's family with the expenses. Babington is now recovering from his surgery.

Babington was airlifted by Suffolk County Police to Stony Brook Hospital in Long Island after the fall. He has since been transferred to New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhatten. His injuries are not life-threatening. He has been conscious and grateful for the many messages of support that flooded in.
