Katie Ayres is on her way to recovery after fall at Chatsworth CIC*

Katie Emma Ayres' (age 24) fell from her horse Windy Lad at Chatsworth CIC* in the cross country phase of the competition (13 May 2017). Katie's parents have asked British Eventing to post the below update on her current situation as Katie and her family have had many messages from the Eventing community regarding her well being. "The fall unfortunately resulted in Katie breaking her 5th and 6th vertebrae, she waited a few days for surgery and then had two rods placed down her spine along with 8 screws. "She has a long road to recovery. It will be at least 6 months till she rides again and at least 12 month until she can compete, however she sat up yesterday for the first time." Katie and her parents would like to thank everyone for all the well wishes they have received since Katie's fall.
