Also in Samorin, as usual, the weekend ended with a Grand Prix. In this 1m55 high Grand Prix of the CSIO3* competition, 56 combinations competed. The combinations were presented with a very challenging basic course that posed problems in several places. Only two combination would succeed in the plan: to jump a clear first round. Those two riders were Dutchman Michael Greeve and Italian Omar Bonomelli. A showdown between the two riders would therefore have to decide the winner.
Michael Greeve entered the jump-off ring first with his Denver (by Diarado). His 9-year-old gelding jumped a very fast round but unfortunately the duo failed to record a double clear round behind their name. The duo concluded their jump-off with one jumping fault. So Bonomelli, who had to go after Greeve, knew what he had to do: stay clear. The Italian steered Chippendel de La Tour (by Conrad) very carefully through the course and was able to leave all obstacles in the scraps. He finished in 50.08 seconds, however, his clear round meant victory anyway.
Third place came to Szabolcs Krucso and Cantonel (by Catoki). The duo left all the bars in the scoops during their basic round but were docked two penalties for time. Mans Thijssen and Hello (by Ambler Gambler) followed in fourth place as the fastest four-pointers. Gilles Muller and Giavanna (by Ukato) completed the top ffij.
